In accordance with our statutes, which provide for the promotion and maintenance of relations with other cities in the spirit of international understanding, we accepted the invitation of the mayor, Mr. Stephan Muckel, and traveled to Erkelenz for the 30th anniversary of our cities.
During the anniversary celebration, we were able to establish a friendly relationship with a delegation from St. James. The twin town in Normandy, which had already celebrated 50 years with Erkelenz, was led by Mayor David Juquin.
In addition, our musicians were able to make initial contacts with the organizers of the Lambertusmarkt and the festival organizers of Electrisize, as well as local and international DJs, during this anniversary weekend.
The development of friendly relationships among young people on a musical level has taken place quite naturally here. This allows international understanding to grow through mutual cultural appreciation within and beyond our national borders.
We were particularly pleased that the young people of Bad Windsheim showed great interest in our 30-year-old town twinning with Erkelenz and have already integrated into it. As citizens of our town and a new generation, they have presented an excellent image in the Rhineland, which our youth committee work has confirmed: MUSIC UNITES!
Celebration during the "Lambertus Market" (Thursday, May 30th - Saturday, June 1st). See below for more information!
